You are a mid-senior level staff accountant with experience with both AP and AR.  You’ve had experience working for small and large companies in the past as well as experience implementing accounting best practices and major data clean-up processes. You consider yourself a pro with Quickbooks Online and also someone who works collaboratively with cross-functional teams with a teamwork mindset. The Task At Hand:  

Our Staff Accountant will play a crucial role in updating and maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the overall financial health of the organization. As the sole internal accounting resource, process improvement and building for the long term is embraced and encouraged. The Staff Accountant will balance this with day-to-day accounting operations, month-end, and a moderate volume of AP/AR.  

In This Role, You Will:   

We anticipate the Staff Accountant to have a proactive and organized approach to accounting operations, addressing day-to-day needs as well as providing a critical eye to ensure accurate monthly reports and overall clean data. Here are the top priorities of Staff Accountant: 

General Accounting: 

  • Monitor and maintain weekly, monthly, and annual reporting and ensure continuity through all of our accounting systems.  
  • Take the lead on company tax and auditing information and reporting.  
  • Execute employee reimbursements and vendor payments within specified terms, and verify that payments are appropriately cost-coded and tracked in QuickBooks Online.  
  • Maintain a vendor database for all Aquacycl project purchases and a relevant chart of accounts. 
  • Enhance our weekly aging report process and ensure an accurate activity is reflected.  

Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable: 

  • Manage accounts payable activities, including invoice creation and processing, payment preparation, and vendor communication. 
  • Manage accounts receivable functions, including invoicing, collections, and reconciliation in partnership with our various customer invoicing systems (Coupa, Avaro, Ariba, etc). 
  • Monitor cash flow and assist in the development of strategies to optimize working capital. 
  • Ensure that all customer/partner payments are received according to specified contract/agreement terms, and that payments received are deposited, appropriately cost-coded, and tracked in QuickBooks Online. 

GL & Reporting: 

  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. 
  • Record and classify financial transactions with precision, ensuring a timely and organized month-end close process. 
  • Collaborate with other departments to obtain necessary financial information and resolve any discrepancies. 
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring accuracy and adherence to accounting principles. 
  • Close the books at the end of every month and conduct a monthly finance review with the CEO & COO. 
  • Work directly with the CEO, and COO to prepare year-end/quarterly tax payments and reports. 

In This Role, You’ll Bring With You: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 
  • 5-7 years of experience as a Staff Accountant or similar role.  
  • Expert knowledge in QuickBooks Online with a strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP). 
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. 
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and a strong multi-tasker. 
  • Experience working in a small company structure is a plus. 
  • Experience in Manufacturing or physical products a plus. 

Location:  

  • Primarily based in our Escondido, CA office. Some WFH flexibility after a training period.  

Compensation:  

  • 70-80k annually
