You excel at solving complex problems and are proficient with computer applications, quickly learning new ones as needed. Your strengths include planning, organizing, and mastering new complex technologies. You are hands-on and ready to help your team whenever necessary.

You are also experienced in managing people, comfortable with delegating tasks, communicating goals, and motivating various personalities.

The Task At Hand:

We are a small company with 23 employees and currently oversee 3 customer sites, and projected to add 4 more sites in 2024. The Field Service Manager will oversee up to 5 technicians who monitor, repair, and maintain these sites. Their main responsibilities include organizing daily operations, preparing for site visits, and handling remote troubleshooting and monitoring of our systems.

Since we are a small team, we often develop new processes and SOPs and learn from our mistakes. The new Field Service Manager will have a significant opportunity to streamline our existing processes, simplify them, and increase collaboration with other departments.

In This Role, You Will:   

The Field Service Manager will oversee the testing, installation, operation and optimization of existing Aquacycl systems. The purpose of the role is to ensure optimal and efficient systems operation according to established KPIs and customer requirements. The Field Service Manager is also responsible for maintaining full and proper documentation of systems operation, observed problems, actions taken to resolve them and corresponding improvements. Here’s a recap of the responsibilities: 

Team Management: 

  • Thoroughly onboard new technicians and ensure current technicians are equipped with system knowledge, thoroughly trained, informed about system operation procedures and record keeping, and schedules.  
  • Provide training, tools, and environment for technicians to be effective problem solvers and confidently navigate our HMI monitoring systems. 
  • Create team environment that is based on communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and collaboration.  

Field Service/System Operations: 

  • Lead daily Field Service team activities including planning, travel, troubleshooting (both onsite and remote), and maintenance of Aquacycl systems, while also managing related documentation like schedules, checklists, and system manuals. 
  • Continually assess competitive products and technologies to enhance service offerings. 
  • Regularly support team performance to ensure project milestones are met on time and within budget, and forecast any service cost changes effectively. 
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of Aquacycl technology to optimize system operation, address client needs, and reduce onsite maintenance requirements. 

Communication & Project Management: 

  • Manage Field/Systems Operations-specific tasks including budgeting, procurement, inventory, and training. 
  • Assist in developing and refining components to enhance reliability and reduce costs. 
  • Oversee system operations, collect feedback from technicians about site performance, and ensure KPI targets are met. 
  • Collaborate on design and installation of Aquacycl hardware, and travel to customer sites as needed. 

In This Role, You’ll Bring With You:

  • Advanced education or certificates in technological fields (construction, plumbing, wastewater, etc) is preferred.  
  • 3+ years of field service management experience in a service industry.  
  • People-first leadership and communication skills. 
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills. 
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems operation preferred. 
  • Experience with PVC plumbing and general plumbing knowledge preferred. 
  • Familiarity with PLC and HMI systems is preferred. 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products is required. 
  • Ability and flexibility to travel weekly and work extended hours (up to 10 hours a day when onsite), including occasional bimonthly weekend travel. 
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport in the future.

Location:  

  • Based in San Diego. Up to 20% travel expected.  

Compensation:  

  • 80-85k annually
