Innovations in wastewater circularity represent a significant opportunity for corporations on the leading edge of water stewardship. The challenge now –not only for those corporations, but also the innovators, investors, governments, civil society organizations, and others across the water sector – is bringing these innovations to scale.
In August 2023, twelve water leaders were convened by Aquacycl, Atlantean Media, and Water Foundry for an evening on the sidelines of Stockholm World Water Week to explore this topic. These leaders came from a diversity of backgrounds, representing multinationals, venture capital funds, technology firms, and nongovernmental organizations. They identified key challenges but, more importantly, they focused on defining solutions: what they look like and how to implement them.
This paper is the product of the discussions that took place that evening. It builds on a previous paper, entitled The Critical Role of Industrial Wastewater in a Circular Economy, produced by the convening partners prior to the event.
